Bio
Ms.
Dozier has been a longtime resident of San Diego
county, graduating from Sunset Continuation High School
in Encinitas, CA. She then moved on to UC Santa
Cruz, where she earned her BA in Molecular, Cell and Developmental
Biology. While at UCSC, she served as a Chancellor’s Intern, community
advisor (like an RA) and was elected SUA Chair (student body president) during
her senior year.
After
graduation, Ms. Dozier worked as a laboratory biologist at Molecular Dynamics
in the Sunnyvale, CA, where she developed cDNA microarray
technology. She returned to San Diego to join the
graduate program at UC San Diego. Sara was rewarded for her research in
cancer biology and cellular oxygen sensing and teaching efforts with a MS in
Biological Sciences. She then returned
to Biotechnology and worked as an associate scientist at Kalypsys, Inc,
developing small molecule treatments for pain, inflammation and metabolic
disorders.
Longing
to pursue a career in education, Ms. Dozier left the private sector to begin
teaching biology and chemistry at the School of Science
and Technology, San Diego High Educational Complex.
Ms.
Dozier lives in Golden Hill with her partner, Jason and her cat, the creatively
named Kitty.
In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, chilling with her
friends, going to live shows, knitting, napping, reading, swimming, hiking and
feeding raw meat to Kitty.
