Bio

Ms. Dozier has been a longtime resident of San Diego county, graduating from Sunset Continuation High School in Encinitas, CA.  She then moved on to UC Santa Cruz, where she earned her BA in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology.  While at UCSC, she served as a Chancellor’s Intern, community advisor (like an RA) and was elected SUA Chair (student body president) during her senior year.

After graduation, Ms. Dozier worked as a laboratory biologist at Molecular Dynamics in the Sunnyvale, CA, where she developed cDNA microarray technology.  She returned to San Diego to join the graduate program at UC San Diego.  Sara was rewarded for her research in cancer biology and cellular oxygen sensing and teaching efforts with a MS in Biological Sciences.  She then returned to Biotechnology and worked as an associate scientist at Kalypsys, Inc, developing small molecule treatments for pain, inflammation and metabolic disorders.

Longing to pursue a career in education, Ms. Dozier left the private sector to begin teaching biology and chemistry at the School of Science and Technology, San Diego High Educational Complex.

Ms. Dozier lives in Golden Hill with her partner, Jason and her cat, the creatively named Kitty.  In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, chilling with her friends, going to live shows, knitting, napping, reading, swimming, hiking and feeding raw meat to Kitty.
